Carrot Top is perhaps one of the few comedians who is famous for both prop comedy and his red hair. Using his own zany brand of prop comedy, he has been entertaining audiences for years, carrying around his props in his huge trunk, while offering a one liner or two, before tossing away the said prop.

Carrot Top didn’t aim to be a comedian at first. Carrot Top or Scott Thompson was born February 25, 1967. His father is a NASA instructor and his brother is a fighter pilot. Growing up, all he wanted to become an astronaut. However, due to his passion for surfing, he enrolled in Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton to take up marketing and be close to the waves he loved most.

Not being familiar with standup comedy, his then-roommate encouraged him to try it during an open mic night. He didn’t rise quite to stardom due to the unusual nature of his comedy. After a frustrating year in standup comedy, Carrot Top decided to quit entirely and did various jobs to get by. In 1987 a club owner saw him and gave him a slot for a New Year’s Event, and Carrot Top then decided to continue with his career.

1990 was the start of his career after he got his first booking outside Florida. He t appeared on “Comic Strip Live”. Later he was seen on “The Tonight Show” and his career started to rise. Because of his unusual genre, other comedian tried to copy his style, but never really achieved the same infamy that Carrot Top achieved. While continuing to do his standup comendy, he found time to appear in various films and television shows.

Carrot Top is the only entertainer who was given both the Entertainer of the Year and Comedian of the Year award in the same year. He was also given the American Comedy Award for Best Male Stand-Up in 1994. Today Carrot Top is a regular performer at Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas wherein he performs in the Atrium Showroom every night.
